Another Home Torn down by the City,

Another home was torn down over the weekend at the corner of George and Hill st, right across from the Post Office. i have once check out this house lat fall, it was in good shape, it only need minor repairs and some yard work.

While the city continue to tear these homes down, they are doing everything they can to rebuilt the Douglas Block.

River Clean Up, or lack of

On behalf of Keep America Beautiful of Nash & Edgecombe Counties, I would like to extend an invitation to you, your family, friends, coworkers, and club members to participate in the Twin Counties Great American Cleanup River Cleanup on Saturday, May 9, from Battle Park boat ramp to Neville Road boat ramp. This event is being organized by Keep America Beautiful of Nash & Edgecombe Counties and Tar River District of Boy Scouts of America. Volunteers are asked to meet at Battle Park boat ramp for registration, cleanup assignments and supplies, maps, etc. at 8:30 am. The river cleanup will begin at 9 am and end at 12 noon. Volunteers are also needed to assist with cleaning along the shorelines of the Tar River (Sunset Park area both sides of river, walking trails from Sunset Park to Battle Park and Battle Park to MLK Park, City Lake area, etc.). In addition, lunch will be provided at 12 noon.

To register your group in this year's Great American Cleanup, call Keep America Beautiful of Nash & Edgecombe Counties at (252) 467-4960. We look forward to speaking with you shortly about joining this vital effort. Meanwhile, I can be reached at (252) 467-4960. We hope you'll join us in making the Twin County area clean and beautiful this spring!

However if the City's Workers who are in charge of trash collection at Battle Park we might not need a river clean up. I guess these workers only know how to change a trash bag, god for bid they use type of tool to pick the trash on the ground. I have notice the City Lake and Sunset Park gets more attention then Battle Park does.
Hell Most of the picnic tables are broken, benches are the same. Just maybe if the city did the up keep the way they do at City and Sunset Park, more people would visit Battle Park within turn would reduce the number of sex acts that happens there. They post signs (at what cost) claiming they have the Park under video surveillance, which we all know is damn lie, so this was a waste of money to make the signs and having them installed.

Maybe while the some of the local cops of down there doing their job and just hanging out, if they see people leave their trash behind and on the ground start handing out littering tickets this might help as well. Oops then again I could be wrong since the City Lake has trash in it's waters.
