Main Douglas Block Building Almost completed

Yes the Main Building of this Project is almost completed. As you can see it has been giving new windows and doors and roof and inside structure, and a nice fresh coat of paint.

I wonder if there any tenants signed up yet, If so how long before they move in. Since the parking lot behind the buildings isn't yet complete..

Some Money Spent at Battle Park, WOW

It would seem that the City Spent some money to replace the old trail sign in Battle Park, those which were tore up by local vandals
Yet, no money could be found to fill the hole in the walkways of the park. I guess sometime in this fall season if someone steps in it while its cover with leaves and breaks a leg then only then will Rocky Mount do something about it.

Andre Knight on the Murders in Rocky Mount

First off this is very inappropriate to give this interview in a car. But that doesn't surprise me when he is representing a district that he doesn't even live in.

Several black women all of whom suffered from drug addiction and prostitution have been killed in Rocky Mount North Carolina over the past few years. Andre Knight, who sits on the Rocky Mount City Council and President of the local NAACP has been the most vocal in seeking attention to these murders. Is this the work of one person? Knight weighs in also on the National Media attention these murders have spurred

Who claims everything is about race in Rocky Mount

What NC DOT wants to do to Winstead Ave.

This project if approved would cause months of delays and traffic jams.

Sidewalk Danger downtown on Sunset.

Remember this building where the city said that the building facade was about to fall on the street below. So the city had the facade removed that is what the building look like now. I wasn't there the day they tore the face of this building off. In the process of protecting the citizens from falling brick the heavy equipment that was used tore up the side walk (see the pic below). This huge crack in the sidewalk is a bigger damage to the citizens now. What if the v-shape caution sign gets removed one night and someone walking along steps in this crack, who would be at fault, the city would that's who.

The city need to fix this situation ASAP this is now a bigger hazard then the facade was of building ever was.

Beer sales at event

Ok so for the downtown live event you can drink almost all you want, however you can't drink it out of the. They want you to use plastic cups creating more waste. Cans are 100% recyclable why most plastic cups aren't. This event is not earth friendly I can only guess the city hasn't gone green yet. What a shame

Downtown Live

Today's downtown live attendance was larger then the last. Families flock to this free event to socialize and relax.

However the selling of beer is still wrong for this type if venue.

Which one applies

Sent via BlackBerry from T-Mobile

This could be

This is a great place to open a coffee sober cafe. Close to the local community college

The future that could be

I believe the old US Post Office would make a great community Center instead of a office building.

How long will it be, before this falls onto the sidewalk below. I see the city code enforcement isn't doing anything about this. I wonder why? A over that is leaking and rottening, I guess once it hits someone in the head then something will be done about.

Could Rocky Mount Council be ripping the citizens of RMT???

Consideration of Sale of Certain Real Property Within Phase II of the Douglas Block Redevelopment Project (106-120 East Thomas Street; 128 East Thomas Street; the parcel north of the Douglas Block Building on N.E. Main Street; and the rear of the properties on Albemarle Avenue with the addresses 244-270 and 278-296 Albemarle Avenue) @ $2,500 to Rozellali Group, LLC.

picture below
I really hope that this group isn't getting all this property for that price if so they are ripping off the citizens of Rocky Mount and the city council approved it
UPDATE: THE PART IN RED WILL BE A PARKING LOT THE PART THAT WAS BROUGHT IS WHERE ALL THE CARS ARE. However, they are still getting it for steal of a price. One end of the block being fixed up at a tune of 10s of millions while the other ends goes for $2500.00..

More houses to be demolition

The city has selected nine more to be torn down for many reason most of which is pure shit.
Two on cedar st, clyde st, two on lindsey, raleigh rd. W thomas and woodland avenue.

update woodland avenue removed from the list at recent city meeting

Code Enforcement

Ok folks, those that live in the older parts of Rocky Mount, watch out City Code enforcement folks are out seeking money to help the city to fill their budget problems...they are targeting those folks whom they know don't have the money or time to fight them.. ie poor folks of rocky mount. also there is double talk in those notice.. read them carefully all abatement ie work done my city worker is 200 dollars even if thats them 10 minutes to resolve the issue.

Ok, Folks

The other day was very interesting to say.

I visit the park and all I have to said is that if you decide to have sex in public, in a park where there are signs saying that the park is under video surveillance then  you really can’t get mad if someone photograph you have sex in a parking lot..
